Navigating your business through the current pandemic is a herculean task, especially if you are a small or new business owner with little marketing/business knowledge. It is important to research different methods of reaching your current and potential customers that allows for minimum effort or spend and maximum results.

The main takeaway at the moment is that it can only get better in the weeks to come. Customers are desperate to go shopping again after quarantine has stripped them of their entertainment. While the number of customers may be lower than before the lockdown, the continously lowering infection rate will allow for more customers into your business.

Tip #1: Make the most of social media

Social media is a fantastic free tool to allow you to connect to customers, allowing for a better customers journey. Communicating with customers is a fantastic way to let them know what's happening with your business. You can update them on any physical changes to your business, like a new section to your store or new products that you are selling. Another example is showing that you are a progressive business who are aware of social media which is important for customers because modernizing your business to fit a modernizing customer base is integral to suiting the needs of your customers.

Tip #2: Be found online

Since people are online more important than ever to get your business online. Anything posted online will be consumed at a higher rate than before so it's important to make the most out of it. The first step is to create a website so customers can visit with information about products, services, new/general information etc. so customers are aware. If you already have a website then improving SEO for your website can increase traffic to it, therefore increasing the awareness of your business and ultimately increasing customers. Another good example of being found on search engines is to make your business appear when people seach related businesses. Having a Google page will allow you to appear on Google Maps and it's search algorithm allowing more eyes on your business.

Tip #3: PPC is an intelligent move right now

Since many businesses are cancelling their online marketing actvities because of a lack of customers, marketing agencies will likely add an incentive for new busineses to use their PPC services. Reduced prices, free impressions or free products may be somethings that these agencies are offering to increase their client base. PPC can be a very cost effective marketing method because you are only charged when someone clicks on your ad. You may be one of the only businesses in your market that is using PPC which means that all potential customers would be seeing your business and not anyone else's.

As lockdown eases and people return to normal life, anticipating a bounce-back surge is important for your business so that you can plan how to deal with it. It is important that while many businesses are stranded and can't sell any products, you introduce marketing to allow you to stand out ahead of other businesses. It could be as simple as updating your social media accounts but if you want to take advantage of this situation, using PPC could be a huge contributing factor to your continued success.
