The new movie The Predator hasn't done any extra promoting of the film rather than the typical methods used nowadays (ads on buses, specialised target market ads or YouTube video ads etc.). I believe that they could've done an easy and simple marketing campaign to help get some extra revenue. Previous successful movie marketing campaigns such as; when Paranormal Activity got people to petition to get the movie shown in their home town. This method was practically free and also gained so much attention. Within 72 hours over 4700 people were following a sponsored twitter account and around 47'000 fans on Facebook leaving their reactions to the film. These might seem like measly numbers but having over 860'000 demands for a screening in their home town, i think it's safe to say this method was a success. Thanks to this campaign Paramount was able to make around $193 million and only using $15'000 to produce.

The lack of marketing for this film could be because it is a franchised film and well established. Knowing that fans would go to see it no matter what could've been a reason. However, there has been a lot less hype for this franchise in the recent years, possibly because people think they're dragging it along just to make money and not because they have a passion for it.

What i would've done if i was in charge of creating a marketing campaign for this movie would be to encourage film fanatics and general social media users to come up with ways in which to beat the Predator, whether it be with a laser gun or simple germs like war of the worlds. It doesn't matter what sounds ridiculous, as long as they have a good time creating it. They would use a hashtag like; ⌗howtokillthepredator so that it can be seen and measured. The cast of the film would decide the best methods and a meet and greet would be arranged for the winners plus the winning scenarios would be properly acted out and put at the end in the credits. I believe that this would have a viral effect as social media users like to see faceless organisations do good for the people contributing towards them.
